Writing 4 the Web

Full description of the programming, scripting, development, and web design of Writing 4 the Web

This one is a design I did for a company on 99designs.com. The logo was the only previously created item on the design, so I had a lot of freedom in trying to make a site that fit it.

The other designs, completed by other designers on the site, all took the "easy way out" by using the existing red-gray color scheme in the logo. I saw this as a challenge to find another combination that would be as pleasing, so I went for tan/brown as the second color on the design.

I think the color scheme worked out really well. This isn't one of my favorites from the designs I've done, but I think it fits the bill well. It is a very utilitarian design and showcases some of the most important content aspects of the site.

Oh, in case you were wondering... This design was not picked. The danger of doing something different (though creative) is that it may indeed be different than what the client was picturing in their heads. In a direct client situation, I would've invariably gone for the "easy way out" myself with the solid red-gray color scheme.
